First, let me introduce myself, my name is Amanda Costen and I am 23 years old. I did my Big Chop in April of 2013 by myself and I'm so happy that I did because it has allowed me to grow as a person along with my hair. I've also been learning, and obsessing slightly, over healthy textured and relaxed hair since the summer of 2010 after graduating highschool.
Since I'm in no mood to create a YouTube channel at this point in my journey, I figured I could at least start blogging my experiences and sharing information that I learned and interpreted in my own way. I'm not a professional in the hair care industry nor do I have my own business. I'm just a person who grew up believing that my hair was not capable of doing good things on its own without manipulation such as flat irons, relaxers, braids, weaves and tons of styles that are all very beautiful, but had caused me to neglect my hair and cause additional damage to my hair and scalp.
I believe everyone goes through a journey in life and it's their choice to share it or not but those years of insecurity around my fragile, and what seemed to be very thin hair, could be the same story and situation for someone else right now and maybe my journey could help turn things around.
Well that's it for now I just wanted to let you see that we are in this together.
I would love to see feedback and support so I encourage comments on my blogs. I just want to put good content out that stays true to myself and is easy to understand.
EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT JOURNEY SO ALWAYS KEEP AN OPEN MIND THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE BECAUSE THE ANSWER YOU WERE LOOKING FOR COULD ALREADY BE IN FRONT OF YOU. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! THE MORE YOU KNOW THE MORE IT WILL GROW.
THANK YOU FOR NOT GIVING UP! THAT'S WHY YOURE HERE.
Your hair looks perfect in your picture. Natural, not overly done hair, is always appealing, unless you are going to a Hollywood premiere. If you start out with a great cut, and keep your hair healthy, it is always easier to manage. I'm sure you'll find that you have a lot more free time now.

I would be the one to wear my natural hair in all occasions now, not only for myself, but to inspire others to do the same. Our hair truely is perfect in every way without any additional processes. Thank you for your support in the natural hair community.
